Opera "mise en scene" and video game 9/23/19

When watching this opera, I discovered how opera can connect to real life and emotions. For example, at the end of the play, people did not care for Pinkerton for the way he treated Madame Butterfly. This teaches the people in the audience that you should not treat people this way. You should not just leave someone and not tell them that you are never coming back. Because of this lesson taught by the opera, I believe that the audience reacted just as Madama Butterfly did. They were devastated and saddened with how the outcome turned out and wishes for this outcome to never occur again. However, I do believe that this piece is important to the chronology of opera because it shows the future on how the use technology can express emotion in opera. For example, in Madama Butterfly, the technology used to create music and sound effects gave a better connection to the audience in terms of suspense and emotion. Without this technological aspect, I do think that the opera would be missing out to its full potential.
If I had to make a video game regarding Madama Butterfly, I would create a relationship status game. It would be a two player game and the goal would be to keep the relationship status bar above a healthy level for the most amount of time. For example, if we were to play the game exactly how the opera went, the relationship status bar would be very low and both players would lose the game very quickly because Pinkerton left Madama Butterfly. Now, if Pinkerton stayed with Madama Butterfly, the two players would have to keep a strong relationship to continue playing. Not only would this be a fun video game, but it would also teach players how to have a healthy and respectful relationship with someone in the future.
